Epsilon To Support Nuclear Waste Clean-up in Hanford
San Diego, California (August 12, 2003) - Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is one of the members of a winning team that was awarded a $50 million contract by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of River Protection (ORP).
The Office of River Protection (ORP) at the Hanford Site manages the River Protection Project (RPP), which is the Department's largest and most complex environmental cleanup project. The RPP will build and operate the tank Waste Treatment Plant at the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington to complete the cleanup of 54 million gallons of waste currently stored in 177 aging underground tanks. The Hanford Site provides storage for 60 percent of the nation’s high-level radioactive and chemically hazardous waste.
Bryan B. Min, the President & CEO of Epsilon had this to say about this award. “First of all, let me just say that I’m extremely proud of the talented men and ladies who make the support of this kind of work possible. Our nation still has a long ways to go in order to clean and restore the environment from the hazards and radioactive contaminations which are a by-product of this country’s nuclear program. But, with projects such as these led by the DOE ORP, we are making progress in ensuring that the public and the environment are looked after and are safe from the different hazards. We are honored to have the opportunity to contribute as stewards of our nation’s nuclear waste clean-up program.”
Epsilon’s nuclear trained personnel will provide support to the ORP by supplying technical expertise for the review of the Waste Treatment Plant safety deliverables and in performing safety and regulatory reviews, as well as working to coordinate the selection of external consultants as necessary.
